Totally renovated in April 2015, Gold Pan Inn is waiting for you!! Our home is wheelchair accessible with no stairs to climb. The comfy living room welcomes you to relax watching TV while the dining room is the perfect place for a couple/family dinner. An open concept allows you to cook in the fully furnished kitchen (dishes, pots & pans, a coffeemaker, and a blender) while the family plays games on the dining room table.

The master bedroom boasts a king-size bed and en-suite bath. The second bedroom has a queen bed with a full bath directly across the hall. Towels and bedding are all provided…all you need to bring is your clothes, food and personal items.

Our home is situated on Prospect Mountain which gives you a beautiful view of the 1880 Train from the deck while sipping your favorite glass of wine (did we mention there are 4 wineries to visit in Hill City?) A grill is available for your use.

Hill City is centrally located to all the major attractions in the Black Hills. Crazy Horse is only 8 minutes away; Mt. Rushmore is 15 minutes away. Custer State Park beckons with buffalo, elk, pronghorn, prairie dogs, and donkeys. If you are really lucky you will also see the mountain goats and the big horn sheep! You can rent ATV's just outside town or take a trail ride on a great little horse!

And, Hill City itself is a fabulous, quaint little town. You can visit unique shops (The Farmer's Daughter), peruse some of the finest art in the Black Hills (there are 4 art galleries), ride the 1880 Train, or come face-to-face with Stan…the T-Rex! And, of course, the restaurants are amazing!

Also available a couple blocks from our home is the Mickelson Trail where you can ride bikes (rentals available downtown), walk, run, or jog. The Trail is 109 miles through the middle of the Black Hills. Gorgeous!!

We offer six intimate real log cabins and two historic ranch houses for nightly or weekly rental year-round. Our log cabins circle a picturesque meadow and are placed well back from the road.  Newton Fork Ranch will become your “home away from home;” your peaceful oasis from a world filled with time constraints and non-stop activity. Our fully furnished and well-equipped log cabins, only a half mile from Main Street, will afford you a welcome respite from a hectic life. An afternoon sitting on the deck watching wildlife or an evening spent by a warm fire will transport you to a far simpler and more tranquil time.

Each log cabin features a full kitchen with range, refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, cookware, dinnerware and utensils. Each also has a gas fireplace, gas barbeque, an old-fashioned clawfoot bathtub or rock-surround showers, towels, bedding, and a porch with breathtaking views.  Five have lofts and comfortably sleep up to four people. Our sixth, which has a view of Black Elk Peak (formerly Harney Peak), is a two-bedroom and can sleep up to eight.

Our historic two-bedroom Grandma's Ranch House has a wood-burning fireplace, was built in 1914, and sleeps up to six. The famed Original Badger Clark cabin is "off-the-grid," sleeps two, is heated by a pot-bellied stove, and is for adventurous guests interested in South Dakota's first Poet Laureate and in turning back the clock to a by-gone era.  All of our cabins are placed a short distance apart to afford peace and tranquility.

We have a private access gate that opens directly onto the Mickelson trail.

PETS: Newton Fork Ranch welcomes guests traveling with their well-behaved pets. GUESTS TRAVELING WITH HORSES: we have two heavy-duty 12' x 12' paneled corrals available for a small rental fee. Located in a lovely aspen grove, there is also room for guests to erect their own electric fencing if preferred.  Call for details.
