South Dakota Students Art Competition at the South Dakota State Railroad Museum

You are invited to attend the second annual South Dakota Railroad Museum’s Student Arts Competition beginning on Saturday, July 4th.
The Museum is open 8:30AM to 4:30PM daily to the public through October 11. Please refer to www.sdsrm.org for 2020’s dates events, and specific hours of operation.
SAVE ON ADMISSION: The Museum will offer a one-half price discount ($3.50 per adult, 10 and under FREE) for those that mention the Student Art exhibit.
Through October 11th, the Museum is featuring the juried Art Exhibit featuring pieces created by over 50 South Dakota students from fifteen school districts. Many of the original art works (created on authentic railroad dispatcher’s sheets) will also be for sale. Other prints and original pieces of railroad art will also be for sale during the exhibit.
“It is a delightful getaway in the Heart of the Hills for a day or a weekend,” said Rick Mills, the Museum’s curator. “We invite everyone to experience the art and new Museum exhibits during our 10th anniversary year.”

  • 1:15 PM Double Header with #108 and #110 - Commemorative Gift for each passenger
  • Stop at our 1/2 way point (Oblivion) for photo run by opportunities
  • 3:30 PM Train Arrives in Keystone
  • 4:00 PM Train Departs Keystone
  • 5:00 PM Train Arrives Hill City
  • After train ride: #108 to bridge located at the north end of yard for photos, #110 switching in yard

Yes, the Museum turned “ten” on May 1st!

The South Dakota State Railroad Museum, Ltd. (SDSRM) is commemorating this “milepost” in our history with a special event - A “Soiree” to be specific.

On October 3rd, we invite you to join us for “Cowboys, Cowgirls, and Cowcatchers Soiree,” an evening of music, food, beverages, and a special meet and greet with TRAINS Magazine editor Jim Wrinn and author Cate Kratville-Wrinn - soiree tickets are $35 for individuals and $50 for couples (Attire: handkerchiefs/masks and accompanied by a railroad hat or Stetson/bonnet of your choice).
